Two ratios on this charkha makes it versitale. Use the 80:1 for cotton, silk, angora, or fine wool, or the 16:1 for medium longer fibers. Set with wheel up with the crank on either the left or right hand side. Light and smooth to turn as wheel, spindle and countershaft rotate on ball bearings. The spindle is make from stainless steel and can be rotated sideways for safety or travel. The base has rubber feet to make it stay in place while spinning.
The Ashford line of spinning wheels and equipment is perhaps the most well known of any in the world. The products are mass produced in a modern factory in New Zealand from native silver beech wood. Efficient production, careful attention to quality and expandability make these products a very good value for spinners. The spinning wheels come ready to finish or with a rich furniture finish. They require simple assembly and come with complete instructions and hardware.
